Of all procedures, the facelift is likely the most commonly associated with plastic surgery. We have all seen people around Florida with obvious and tight facelifts, that were performed using older procedures. At Ponte Vedra Med Spa & Plastic Surgery Center, we take great pride in using advanced, tested facelift techniques that result in a natural, rested and subtle outcome.

When you arrive for a facelift consultation in our Ponte Vedra office, you will receive a thorough evaluation of all facial structures. A complete exam of the hairline, forehead, eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, nose, lips, jowls, chin and neck. Things you may not think of such as the nasal tip and earlobes are evaluated as they too may add to an aged appearance. It is very important to assess each face in its entirety, because the final goal of surgery is a natural, rested appearance. It is quite common for one area of the face to age faster than the rest, thus leading to facial features which appear 'older' in some respects to others. In cases such as these, more limited procedure can result in superior results with less surgery.

In the past, the majority of first time facelift patients were women in their sixties. Today, there is a trend of increasing men and women discussing options for facelift procedures at a younger age to 'maintain' their youth as opposed to attempting to erase decades all at one setting. Excellent results can be seen in each group, however there are vast differences in the best approach to use. Techniques for one set of patients will not work on the other, therefore it is imperative that patients seek out a plastic surgeon with the appropriate training and experience in dealing with the various aspects of aging.

Using modern facelift techniques, we avoid the 'windswept' or 'tight' appearance that has for so long been associated with facelifts. We also do not encourage massive facial rearrangements, as most people do not want to look "like someone else".
