Restylane is a form of hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in the dermis of the skin, and is one of the most natural fillers available. It is different from collagen in that it requires no skin test. Our results with Restylane are simply elegant and last far longer than Collagen dermal fillers. Many patients in clinical trials obtained results for 6 to 9 months.

Restylane has been used in over 1 million procedures to correct various types of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lips. Restylane is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and in folds such as the nasolabial fold that travels from the corner of the mouth to the edge of the nose.

Procedure

Restylane is injected using a tiny needle into the base of the area affected, thus ‘plumping up’ the treated area.

Treatment Intervals

Restylane generally lasts twice as long as collagen, therefore treatments are usually scheduled in six month intervals.

Treatment Time

Allow 60 minutes for a Restylane treatment as we generally first administer an anesthetic block to numb the areas being treated. More time may be needed if more than one syringe is requested.

Recovery

Restylane often causes swelling of the treated area immediately after treatment. In general, one should plan for the swelling to be present for a period of 24 to 72 hours. To be safe, we would recommend that the treatment be done 1 week in advance of any social engagement.
